From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Former Rep. Mary Rose Oakar (D-Ohio) has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanors involving campaign fund-raising as part of a plea bargain, the Justice Department said. The government filed a two-count criminal information in U.S. District Court, along with Oakar’s agreement to pay a $32,000 fine and plead guilty to conspiracy and a campaign-law violation. Oakar, 57, will seek probation after pleading guilty to moving $16,000 in contributions through her unsuccessful 1992 reelection campaign under false names.
