City officials plan to give 50 used computers to schools and nonprofit organizations this week.

The computers, which have an estimated total value of $5,000, are older models being replaced with new equipment in city offices, said Steve Elam, the city’s director of general services.

Schools that will benefit from the donation include Royal High, Big Springs Elementary and Hillside Middle public schools, along with Cochran Street Baptist and Phoenix Ranch schools.
