TEXAS A&M; BASEBALL
* County connections: Craig Kuzmic (Cypress College, La Quinta High), Erik Sobek (Santa Ana College, Irvine High); Ken Sundstrom (Golden West College, Kennedy High) and Matt Ward (Santa Ana College, Irvine High).
* Worth nothing: Kuzmic, the state co-player of the year at Cypress last year, is starting at catcher or third base and hitting .256 with six doubles, seven home runs and 26 runs batted and Texas A&M; is 26-10 and ranked as high as 14th in the nation. Sobek and Sundstrom are reserve infielders. Sobek is hitting .261 with four homers and 14 RBIs and Sundstrom is batting .176 but two of his three hits are home runs. Ward, a junior left-hander, is 5-2 in eight starts. He had 40 strikeouts and seven walks in 55 innings.
