Fire Crews Flee Perilous Blaze at Warehouse
Fire gutted a clothing warehouse Wednesday and threatened to collapse the building, forcing firefighters out.
The electrical fire broke out at 2 p.m. at Red Eye, a clothing distributor on South Chris Lane, authorities said.
Forty firefighters from Anaheim and Orange spent 46 minutes fighting the blaze.
“The north wall was weak and beginning to crack, so we felt the chance of collapse was high,” Anaheim Fire Capt. Tabby Cato said. “We were extra cautious of sending people inside, because we felt the conditions were hazardous.”
The fire caused an estimated $670,000 in damage, but none of the 20 employees was hurt, Cato said.
