3 Brothers Arrested in Burglary Probe

Three brothers have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries over the past two months in which computers, televisions and stereos were stolen from two schools and three homes, police said Friday.

Andres Bernardino, 22, on parole for burglary, and his brothers, Juan Carlos, 21, and Lucio, 19, received a wake-up call at 7 a.m. Friday when police searched a home the three share at 2956 Concord Drive, Oxnard Police Det. Dave Klug said.

Police were led to the house when fingerprints found at one of the break-ins matched one of the brothers, Klug said. At the house, police found two stereos and a microwave taken from Channel Islands High School and fishing gear stolen a day earlier from a neighbor of the three men, Klug said.

Police did not find several computers and a video recorder that were reported stolen from nearby Mary Law Private School, Klug said. Several items that were recovered had serial numbers removed, which is a crime, Klug said.

All of the burglaries occurred at sites less than a mile from where the brothers live, Klug said.

“They stayed real close to home and ripped off neighbors and stuff,” Klug said. “They were not wide-traveling type of guys.” Police interviewed the three Friday and said they expect charges to be filed early next week. Bail had not yet been set.
