Preki scored a goal and assisted on another as the Kansas City Wizards beat the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, 2-0, Saturday before 10,299 at Kansas City, Mo.
Paul Rideout scored in the 18th minute, heading in a corner kick from Preki.
Preki then scored in the 52nd minute on a penalty kick.
Miami 2, New England 1--Jerry Tamashiro and Diego Serna scored the Fusion’s first regulation goals to give the expansion team a victory before 11,132 at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Tamashiro’s goal broke Miami’s MLS record of 297 scoreless minutes to start a season.
Columbus 2, Washington 1--Mike Lapper and Brian McBride scored for the Crew before 14,148 at Columbus, Ohio.
Chicago 2, Tampa Bay 0--Frank Klopas scored two goals as the expansion Fire won its home opener before 36,444 at Chicago.
