Rancho Alamitos 2, La Quinta 0--Kristina Hyllested pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for Rancho Alamitos (8-3, 4-1). Storm Dennison and Amanda Santos each had RBI singles for Rancho Alamitos.

Heidi Foster pitched a four hitter for La Quinta (2-9, 0-5).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 3, Estancia 0--Senior pitcher Leea Harlan struck out 16 for a season total of 85 and gave up two hits for host Laguna Hills (7-6, 1-0). Estancia is 2-4, 0-1.

In the Sea View League:

No. 10 El Toro 1, No. 5 Irvine 0--After losing consecutive games to top 10 teams Marina and La Habra, El Toro (11-5, 1-0) bounced back in its league opener. Susan Churchwell scored from third on a line drive by Vanessa Andrade that deflected off the glove of Irvine pitcher Colleen Young in the top of the second.

El Toro’s Suzanne Guy had a perfect game broken up by Heather McConnell in the fifth. Guy (5-3) struck out eight, giving up one hit. Young (4-2) gave up three hits, striking out seven for Irvine (11-2, 0-1).

In the South Coast League:

No. 2 Mater Dei 3, Capistrano Valley 0--Tia Bollinger pitched her third no-hitter of the season, striking out 11. Kelsey Kollen had two hits and one RBI for Mater Dei (11-2, 1-0).

In Garden Grove League golf:

Rancho Alamitos 211, Los Amigos 261--Evan Rothman and Daniel Ortega were the medalists with 40s on the par 35 course at Willowick. Rancho Alamitos is 2-7, 1-3.

In the Sea View League:

Santa Margarita 375, El Toro 395--Frank Merlo and Ryan Dwight were medalists for Santa Margarita (5-2, 4-1). They shot one-over 73 at El Toro Marine Base.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 195, Edison 218--Ryan Robertson shot two-over 38 at Mile Square for Fountain Valley (7-2, 3-0). Jeff Greenfield, Todd Dieudonne and Eric Newman each shot 39 for Fountain Valley.

Huntington Beach 204, Esperanza 212--Kevin Jackson was the medalist at three-over 39 at SeaCliff, for Huntington Beach (7-2, 3-0). Esperanza is 1-2 in league.

Marina 388, Los Alamitos 390--Medalist Scott Osterhout shot one-under 69 at Meadowlark for Marina (4-5, 1-2). Los Alamitos is 7-3, 1-2.

In South Coast League girls’ swimming:

No. 2 Mission Viejo 88, San Clemente 82--San Clemente lost despite taking first in nine of 11 events, breaking a school record and posting several county best times.

Stephanie Chambers, Mercedes Evans, Ari Gardner and Sarah Jones set a San Clemente record in the 400 freestyle relay, winning in 3 minutes 42.31 seconds. It was the second best time in the county this season. The previous record was 3:46.05, set in 1995. The same group of swimmers posted the county’s best time in the 200 freestyle relay, winning in 1:42.79.

Jones also swam the county’s best time in the 50 freestyle, winning in 24.54, and also won the 100 free (55.04).

In Century League boys’ tennis:

Foothill 10, Canyon 8--Nick Mucha and Jeff Barry swept in No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 7-6, 6-4, helping host Foothill (6-5, 3-0) clinch the match. Canyon is 6-5, 2-1.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Beach 9, University 9 (Laguna Beach wins in games, 77-76)--Michael Roguly won a tiebreaker, 7-2, to tie the score, 9-9, and lift Laguna Beach in games. Laguna Beach’s Aaron Talarico swept in singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, to improve to 9-0. Laguna Beach is 7-7, 4-2. University is 7-4, 4-2.

In the Sunset League:

Marina 15, No. 9 Esperanza 9--Ian Cauble and Sean Harper won in doubles, 6-3, 6-4, in an upset for Marina (8-3, 2-1). Allan Hoang and Jeff Ton also won in doubles for the Vikings (6-3, 6-2).

In South Coast League girls’ track and field:

Trabuco Hills 75, San Clemente 60--Christina Ciampa’s winning time in the 100 (12.41) set a San Clemente school record. Ciampa broke the record of 12.49 she set last year. Her time is the second fastest in the county this season.
