Riordan Appointee Quits Planning Panel
Lawyer Anthony Zamora resigned this week from the Los Angeles Planning Commission in a tersely worded letter to Mayor Richard Riordan.
Zamora, who has served on numerous city commissions and committees and worked in Riordan’s law firm several years ago, was appointed to the post by the mayor.
Attempts to reach Zamora on Thursday were unsuccessful. Mayoral aides said they were unsure why Zamora quit the commission.
His one sentence letter read: “By this letter, I resign as a member of the City Planning Commission.”
Zamora has been involved in many city projects, serving on the affordable housing commission and chairing the city attorney’s task force on economic recovery. He also is a member of the board of directors of the PUENTE Learning Center.
Zamora was the attorney for Eventfully Yours, the event-planning company formerly run by Angie Alatorre, the wife of City Councilman Richard Alatorre.
