Kennedy 10, Santa Cruz Harbor 9--Wes Crown led the Golden Cougars to victory with his bat and his arm in a Bishop Gorman tournament game played in strong winds at Basic High.

Crown had four hits and drove in four runs, including Dave Hernandez with the game-winner on a sixth-inning squeeze to culminate a see-saw battle in which the lead changed hands four times.

Crown (4-1) pitched a four-hitter, allowing three earned runs while striking out seven and walking six.

The Golden Cougars held on to win despite making five errors.

Marcus Alvarado had two hits, scored once and stole three bases for Kennedy, which is ranked fifth in The Times’ regional poll.

Notre Dame 3, Ramona 2--Ryan Stonerock’s two-out ninth-inning double drove home Jonathan Brewster, who also doubled, with the winning run in the Bishop Gorman tournament at Bonanza High in Las Vegas.

John Puccinelli, who had a run-scoring double in the third inning for Notre Dame (8-3-1), was walked intentionally before Stonerock stepped to the plate.

Junior left-hander Joel Kirsten (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three and walking none. Kirsten hit a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Birmingham 13, Clark (Las Vegas) 12--Brandon Bartholomew’s fielder’s choice grounder scored Billy McGrath with the winning run in the top of the sixth inning for the Braves in the Bishop Gorman tournament in Las Vegas.

The game went six innings because of a 2 1/2-hour time limit.

Aaron Minor and James Hudgins each had three hits for Birmingham, and Rick Hooper stole four bases.

Birmingham 14, Highland (Utah) 2--James Hudgins had three hits, including a two-run double in the second inning to give the Braves a 5-1 lead in the Bishop Gorman tournament.

Omar Gutierrez, Billy McGrath and Rick Hooper each had two hits for Birmingham (10-7) in a game that was halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Oxnard 6, Channel Islands 4--Rocque Lopez, who had two hits and three RBIs, hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to put the Yellowjackets ahead for good in the Dos Pueblos tournament at Oxnard (6-3-1).

Ryan Martinez had two hits and an RBI for Channel Islands (4-9-1).

San Dimas 16, Alemany 2--Brandon Mackay hit his first home run of the season for the Indians (0-12) in a game shortened to five innings because of the 10-run rule at San Dimas.

Viewpoint 13, Avalon 3--Chaney Sheffield pitched a two-hitter, struck out 10 and also hit two triples for host Viewpoint (7-3, 4-0) in a Liberty League game that went five innings because of the 10-run rule.
