Tucker Taking Texas League to Task

First baseman Jon Tucker (Chatsworth High), playing for double-A San Antonio (Dodgers), had two hits Friday to increase his Texas League-leading total to 17. He is third in the league with a .425 batting average.

Scanning Friday’s box scores: Triple-A--Jacob Cruz (Channel Islands) homered twice for Fresno and Torey Lovullo (Montclair Prep) homered for Buffalo (Indians). . . . Tim Laker (Simi Valley) slugged his third homer for Durham (Devil Rays) in a victory over Norfolk. . . . Bryan Corey (Thousand Oaks High, Pierce College) allowed two hits in four shutout innings of relief against Vancouver and earned his first victory for Tucson (Diamondbacks).

Double-A--Gabe Kapler (Taft High) and former JetHawk Carlos Villalobos each had two hits for Jacksonville (Tigers) in a 9-3 victory over Greenville. . . . Gary Matthews Jr. went four for five with two RBIs for Mobile (Padres) in a loss to Huntsville. . . . Mike Glendenning (Crespi, Pierce College) came off the disabled list to collect two hits and an RBI for Shreveport (Giants) in a victory over Jackson. Mike McMullen (Granada Hills) earned the save. . . . Nate Dishington (Hoover) had a two-run home run for Arkansas (Cardinals) against Tulsa.
