Series for Inactive Catholics to Start

St. Cecilia Church will sponsor a six-part program for inactive Catholics who may wish to revive their religious practices. The series begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and continues on Tuesday evenings through May. Topics will include the church in 1998, Catholic belief, the sacraments and conscience formation. The African Children’s Choir will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday at King of Glory Lutheran Church. The group of 20 children and seven adults from Uganda and Kenya have appeared on such shows as “CBS This Morning” and “Good Morning America.” A freewill offering will be taken. Temple Beth Emet will present its community-wide 1998 Choral Festival at 2 p.m. Sunday. Six adult and youth choirs from Los Angeles and Orange counties will perform both Jewish and secular music. The Jewish Community Center of Orange County will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Israel’s statehood at a Jewish Community Fair from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. next Sunday at UCI’s Aldrich Park. Attractions include a carnival, petting zoo, arts and crafts and face painting. A concert will feature the Gevatron choral group, made up of 20 singers from an Israeli kibbutz. Cost is $18 for adults and $10 for children with advanced registration or $25/$15 the day of the event.
