‘Angels’ Stays Aloft in Top Spot

Share

You might say the films released over the weekend were stopped by an angel--”City of Angels” to be exact. The Warner Bros. movie starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan remained atop the chart for the second week. It beat out “The Object of My Affection,” a romantic comedy from 20th Century Fox starring Jennifer Aniston of TV’s “Friends.”

As “Lost in Space” and “Titanic” slipped to Nos. 3 and 4, two new films had lackluster openings. “Paulie,” a comedy from DreamWorks SKG featuring a parrot, came in at No. 5, while “Major League III” from Warner Bros. opened at No. 10.
