* A tiny Canadian company has appealed a ruling that could make it impossible for many Internet users to set up domains under their own last names. FreeView Listings, a Vancouver company that specializes in setting up Internet sites and e-mail addresses using common last names, is battling the adhesive label maker Avery Dennison Corp. of Pasadena over use of avery.net and dennison.net domains. FreeView, a small company that consists of a few computers and operators, filed its appeal late last week, the company’s attorney said, in response to U.S. District Judge J. Spencer Letts’ ruling that FreeView diluted the trademark value of the Avery Dennison name.
