Jackson to Stick With Northridge

Cal State Northridge’s prized recruit Bradley Jackson shot down rumors Monday that he might spurn the Matadors and attend prep school in the fall.

Jackson said that his father had told him not to comment, but when asked if he was going to Northridge Jackson answered, “Yes.”

Northridge Coach Bobby Braswell believes that Jackson, a point guard from Inglewood High, is the most talented recruit the Matadors have ever landed. Jackson signed a letter of intent during the early signing period in November.

However, several people apparently passed word to Jackson that he could have signed with a more prestigious school. It is an NCAA violation for a college coach to contact a player who has signed a letter of intent with another program.

“He’s happy with Northridge and I’m flattered he is regarded so highly,” Braswell said. “Several college coaches are impressed with him. But there is no truth to [him going to prep school].”

Jackson was recruited by Tulsa, UC Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount and Florida State in the fall, and Georgetown and New Mexico also showed interest. Should he back out of his letter of intent, Jackson would not be able to play at another college for two seasons unless Northridge gave him a release.
