Titan Women Set to Open Big West Meet
The Cal State Fullerton women’s tennis team begins play in the Big West Conference tournament today at Ojai. The Titans are seeded ninth among 12 teams, but Coach Bill Reynolds hopes his team will be around for more than one match.
Under the tournament’s new format, four teams will be eliminated after the first round.
The Titans will meet North Texas in the first round with the winner of that match facing top-seeded Boise State on Thursday.
The top four teams--Boise State, New Mexico State, UC Irvine and Long Beach State--get first-round byes.
Amy Medlin (11-9) continues to play well at No. 1 singles for Fullerton. She and Debbie Vonusa are 13-6 at No. 1 doubles. Eleanor Luzano, a freshman from Rosary, also has been a boost to the team. She is 11-8 in singles.
