Palmdale Stays On Its Golden March

Palmdale High continued its dominance of the Golden League and Quartz Hill continued to slide Wednesday when the Falcons pounded the Rebels, 16-5, at Quartz Hill in a baseball game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Palmdale (13-4, 8-0 in league play) was the league favorite entering the season and has had little trouble showing why. The Falcons average nine runs a game against Golden League opponents and appear to be cruising toward the league title.

Quartz Hill (9-8, 3-5) won seven of its first eight games but has lost seven of nine.

The Rebels made eight errors against Palmdale.

“We started hot but then the wheels fell off,” Rebel Coach David Stradling said. “The axles and the seats and everything else, too.”

Mike Arrellano of Palmdale had three hits, including a grand slam in the first inning, and had six runs batted in.

Chris Testa, who led off the game with a triple, had three hits and Mark Hendricks had a home run, a double and four RBIs.

“All of our hitters are awesome,” Arrellano said. “We’ve been waiting four years for this team and we want to show everyone that we’re not messing around.”

Parker Matheny hit two home runs for Quartz Hill.
