Lutheran Bishop to Be Installed

The Pacifica Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will install the Rev. Murray D. Finck as bishop during worship and Holy Communion at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Representatives from other Protestant denominations and the Catholic Church will participate. Robert Eisenman will give a Dead Sea Scroll lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Isaiah of Newport Beach. Eisenman is a professor of Middle East religions and archeology and director of the Institute for the Study of Judeo-Christian Origins at Cal State Long Beach. Long Beach photographer Lewis Groner’s “Chassidim in Black and White” will be on display Thursday through Oct. 9 at the Jewish Community Center of Orange County.
