Two Little Words (Al Davis) Get L.A. Fans Very Excited

Share

I want the Raiders back in Los Angeles just as badly as I want to sleep on a bed of nails, eat rosebushes for dinner, listen to country music all day, and trust Al Davis with my money.

If Al Davis brings the Raiders back to L.A., we would still need to use public funds. To build more jails.

“We’re trying to get people excited about getting football back . . . “ said Kathy Schloessman. Maybe instead of wasting your time and money with a daylong conference for the media, you should spend your efforts with a conference entitled: “Fans: Learn How to Get Excited About Al Davis.”

When is someone going to have the guts to tell the NFL you need us more than we need you? These owners like Jerry Jones and Al Davis don’t care about who they use or step on to fatten their wallets.

Why in the world should any city in this country have to put up one single penny of public funds to subsidize the building of a stadium? If the late Jack Kent Cooke could build an arena by himself, why can’t the rest of these guys? Because the first rule of business is, use someone else’s money, let them take the risk. Al Davis knows all about this. Just ask Irwindale and El Segundo. Haven’t we had enough of this crook and his second-rate team?

Reading T.J. Simers’ articles makes me very depressed about the future of football in Los Angeles. You have to wonder if the potential ownership groups realize that the NFL is in a hurry to have 32 teams, not 33. If these groups continue to fight among themselves, an organized Houston bid will be granted the 32nd franchise and we will be left in the dust.

There is a huge fan base in Los Angeles just aching for the opportunity to root for a hometown team. Perhaps when these “leaders” start reaching out to football fans instead of posturing toward constituents, we may have a chance.
