Temperatures Soar Past 100 Across State
From Times Wire Reports
Temperatures shot past 100 degrees across much of north and central Texas, but forecasters say the renewed heat wave should be short-lived. After 29 straight days of triple-digit heat in July and early August, the region enjoyed a brief respite last week, with rain and highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. The heat wave was a factor in at least 124 deaths statewide and caused an estimated $1.5 billion in crop losses. Texas cities continued their water conservation crusade.
