Food, rides, games and magic are on the agenda for the 12th annual Starscene Fiesta this weekend at North Hollywood Park.

Half of the proceeds from the three-day event, sponsored by the Universal City-North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will go to the park’s general fund to be used for improvements and programs, said John McRae, membership director for the chamber.

The remaining proceeds will go to the chamber and be used for community programs and business promotion projects, said McRae, who is the site director of the event.

If the weather cooperates, organizers expect to raise about $6,000 from an anticipated 20,000 visitors.

The carnival area--at the corner of Magnolia Boulevard and Tujunga Avenue-- will feature 22 rides, including old favorites like the Ferris wheel, and a number of skill-testing games that offer prizes such as stuffed animals.

There will also be arts and crafts booths and commercial vendors, organizers said.

As a main attraction, performers will do sleight-of-hand tricks in the magic tent. Organizers have also planned a petting zoo and other activities for youngsters.

Admission and parking for the Starscene Fiesta are free.

The event will be open on Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.
