John D. Boatright; Longtime Area Resident
John David Boatright, a 43-year Ventura County resident, died Sunday at his Oxnard home after a lengthy illness. He was 84.
Boatright was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Spearfish, S.D. He moved to Ventura County in 1955.
Boatright worked for 30 years as an electronics engineer for the Department of Defense. He enjoyed boating, astronomy, chess and mathematical puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of Oxnard; two daughters, Peggy Lacroce and Barbara Gallison, both of Ventura; a brother, Harvey, of Dallas; three sisters, Ida Hutchinson and Alice Tudor, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Betty Baxter of Hartland, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
