Glasgow, Chen-Olsen Are Eliminated

Jenny Glasgow, a junior at Pepperdine, and Linda-Chen Olsen of Granada Hills lost in the first day of match play Thursday at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Glasgow, who led stroke-play after a first-round 70, lost to Marcy Newton of High Point, N.C., 6 and 4, in the second round. She defeated Jenna Daniels of Bonita, 2 and 1, in her first- round match in the morning. Olsen lost in the first round, 8 and 6, to Karen Stupples of England, a member of Great Britain and Ireland’s 1998 Curtis Cup team.

Roy Moon of Simi Valley is tied for 33rd at the Independent Insurance Agent Junior Classic after shooting six-over-par 76 in the third round at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Okla.

Moon, a Royal High junior, has a three-round total of 223 and is 16 strokes behind leader Brent Wanner of Brewster, Mass.

Adriana Han of Glendale shot 79 in the second round of the American Junior Golf Assn. Boise Junior Classic at Warm Springs Golf Club in Boise, Idaho, and is tied for 10th with a two-day total of 156.

Han trails leader Paige MacKenzie of Yakima, Wash., by eight strokes.
