SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Plans to build a 200-room hotel, four office buildings, a day-care center and a restaurant next to the Arrowhead Pond will be considered Monday by the Anaheim Planning Commission.

A total of 810,000 square feet of office space is planned for the proposed Arena Corporate Centre, developed by Burnett Polygon LP of Tustin.

Office space includes a 10-story building, two six-story buildings and one four-story building. A parking structure for 700 cars is also proposed.

In addition, a second structure for up to 3,000 cars will be built and may be shared with the Pond, subject to an agreement with the city and Ogden Entertainment, operator of the arena, said Lynn Burnett, president of Burnett Polygon.

The 23-acre parcel on Douglass Road, formerly the site of a mobile-home park, was previously planned as a New Orleans-themed hotel and entertainment complex. But developers eventually withdrew the project.

If the office project is approved, construction would begin by the end of this year. The first phase would be completed in late 1999.

The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. in council chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
