Saturday Will Be Pet Adoption Day
Friends of San Clemente Animals will hold a pet adoption day Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to try to place animals from the city shelter that might have trouble finding good homes.
“People usually don’t pick large dogs--dogs who need lots of training and exercise--and older dogs, and they stay at the shelter for months,” Friends spokeswoman Barbara Elsner said.
People who want to adopt a pet may fill out an application Saturday. Approved owners may pick up the pets the next day.
The group also will host its biggest fund-raiser, “Paws in Paradise,” a tropical-themed party, on Sept. 12 from 6 to 11:30 p.m. at the Rancho San Clemente Tennis Club.
Tickets are $50 each. Donations are needed for the live and silent auctions. Information: (949) 361-1328.
