Radio Station Receptionist Dies 2 Days After Shooting
A Pasadena radio station receptionist died Thursday of injuries she received two days earlier, when a former boyfriend shot her in the head as they arrived for work.
Claudia Yanez, 20, of Monterey Park died at Huntington Memorial Hospital shortly before 2 p.m., a hospital spokeswoman said. Julio Carrillo-Hernandez, 28, of Baldwin Park, who turned the gun on himself after shooting Yanez, died early Wednesday, officials said.
Yanez was shot shortly before 9 a.m. at the rear entrance of Radio KALI, 747 E. Green St.
She had broken off her relationship with Carrillo-Hernandez about a year ago, but he continued to call her and send her gifts even as she began dating another man, co-workers said. On Friday, Carrillo-Hernandez sent roses to Yanez at the radio station and on Monday went to her mother’s house, co-workers said.
