Deputies Plan ‘Night Out’ for Residents
Hoping to strengthen ties with residents and increase safety, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies in Moorpark are holding the town’s first Neighborhood Night Out on Saturday.
The 10 neighborhood groups that requested the three-hour event will organize block parties beginning at 6 p.m. Some plan on having barbecues and others, music.
Law enforcement units such as the SWAT team, bicycle police and bomb squad will visit the sites. The sheriff’s helicopter will also be on display.
“It’s just a no-lose situation,” said Kory Martinelli, senior deputy for Moorpark’s sheriff’s division. “We get to learn about the community and the community learns about us.”
