ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Furon Co.: The Laguna Niguel manufacturer of engineered polymer components for the industrial and health care markets posted a 13% gain in net income for the second quarter on a 5% increase in sales.

Net income rose to $5.9 million, or 32 cents a share, from $5.2 million, or 28 cents a share, for the same period last year. Sales for the quarter ended Aug. 1 increased to $125 million from $118.7 million. Net income for the six-month period advanced 11% to $11.3 million, or 61 cents a share, from $10.2 million, or 55 cents a share, for the first half of the prior year. Sales grew 3% to $244.9 million from $238.3 million.
