Orioles’ Otanez Breaks Wrist

Baltimore rookie outfielder Willis Otanez broke his left wrist Thursday night trying to make a diving catch in the first inning at Chicago.

Otanez, who joined the team Sunday from triple-A Rochester, made a diving attempt on Albert Belle’s fly to shallow right-center field. Otanez missed the bases-loaded drive and a run scored.

Toronto’s Benito Santiago, who has missed the entire season after a January 4 automobile accident, will continue his rehabilitation assignment at triple-A Syracuse. Santiago batted .162 in 11 games with Class-A Dunedin in the Florida State League.
