City to Host First Music Festival at Brea Dam

Local musicians will rock the town at a battle of the bands competition and festival today.

The city is hosting the first annual Jam at the Dam, with a crowd of more than 1,000 people expected to fill the Brea Dam Recreational Area, located between the YMCA and the Golf Training Center.

La Puente-based band Freak Daddy will headline the event, with bands No Way Bud, In Reply, Joggers Dream, Cacawates and No Name Band competing for prizes. Six teen and adult judges will award the winners $300, $200 and $100 prizes.

Community Services Department officials said they hope to attract teenagers and young adults with the punk, alternative, ska and swing lineup.

The free event will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the dam area, 1600 N. Harbor Blvd. There will be food, contests and vendors as well. Information: (714) 738-6585.
