Irvine Co. Has New Community Affairs Director

* Carol Schroeder has been named senior director of community affairs for the Irvine Co., in the entitlement and community relations division. She previously worked for the Irvine Co. from 1985-92 as the company’s first director of community issues. For the last six years, Schroeder has been the principal of Schroeder Public Affairs.

* Crystal Mario has been appointed vice president of North America sales for Platinum Software Corp. in Irvine. She most recently served as regional director of sales for the Southeast region. Before joining Platinum, Mario was director of Eastern region sales at Frame Technology Corp. In addition, Michael Pennell has been named vice president of product marketing. He had been director of product marketing. Prior to joining Platinum six years ago, Pennell was a manager at Andersen Consulting.

* Colleen Anne Sanborn has joined IntraState Bail Bonds in Huntington Beach as vice president, with both sales and administrative responsibilities. She was previously a senior sales coordinator for BAX Global, an air freight company.

* C.E. Patterson Jr. has been appointed project director for Burke Real Estate Group in Santa Ana. He was a broker for Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate Services in the Irvine Spectrum office.

* Bonnie Peat has been named pneumatics business unit manager for Parker Aerospace’s Air & Fuel division in Irvine. Peat joined Parker Aerospace more than 14 years ago and most recently served as team leader for the pneumatics engine business.

* Jenelyn A. Russo has been made an associate at Taylor & Associates Architects in Newport Beach, which provides architectural and interior design services to medical institutions. She has been an interior designer with the firm for more than five years.

* Kevin R. Newman has been named a principal in the Newport Beach office of Kaufman Meeks + Partners Co., a design and land-planning firm. He is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the office and serves as executive vice president of residential design.

* Dick Macedo has been appointed executive vice president of marketing and sales for Kia Motors America in Irvine. He had been vice president of marketing and sales. Lee Sawyer, Jim Sanfilippo, Jim Richert and Bill Camp have been named vice presidents. Sawyer had been executive director, service; Sanfilippo, executive director, distribution and logistics; Richert, executive director, parts; and Camp, executive director, finance. In addition, Ted Mooers was appointed executive director, consumer affairs and Scott Pickard, director of dealer development and regional administration.

* Earl Lee has been named executive vice president of operations for the Prudential Real Estate Affiliates Inc. in Irvine. He was senior vice president, principal broker, partner and director of Prudential Locations, a member of the Prudential Real Estate Network.

* Roger T. Monaco has been named chief financial officer and senior vice president of Universal Electronics Inc., a Cypress manufacturer of universal remote controls. He succeeds Paul D. Arling, who resigned as chief financial officer but will remain on the board of directors. Monaco had been chief financial officer for Access Television and Bristol Retail Solutions. Before that, he was vice president of corporate planning and financial analysis for Times Mirror.

* Joanne Irish has been appointed director of education and development- West Coast operations for Visual Services Inc. in Cypress, a subsidiary of VSI Holdings Inc. She was formerly new technologies training manager for BMW of North America and senior sales training administrator for the Lexus division of Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc.

* Thomas Elder has joined PhoneXchange Inc. in Newport Beach as vice president of sales and marketing. He was formerly with NACT Telecommunications, GST Telecommunications and Wasatch International Network Services. In addition, Bonnie Gatlin has been named vice president of carrier relations, responsible for ongoing long distance rate negotiations and carrier service agreements. Gatlin was most recently vice president of carrier relations for Avirnex Communications Group.

* Edward M. Feasel is the first dean of students for Soka University’s new Aliso Viejo campus. He will also be a professor of economics. Feasel was previously a research fellow of the Public Policy Institute of California in San Francisco and a visiting professor in the department of economics at UC Berkeley.

* Shabi Asghar has been named to the newly created position of president of the wholesale division for New Century Mortgage Corp. in Irvine. Asghar joined the firm in December 1995 as vice president in charge of mortgage banking operations. He was later named senior vice president of wholesale lending and a director.

* Leslie Hart has joined Aon Consulting’s Employee Benefits Group as a senior consultant and vice president in the Costa Mesa office. Hart has 22 years of experience as an employee benefits consultant.

* Dov Rubin has been appointed vice president and general manager of NDS Americas in Newport Beach, the U.S. division of NDS Ltd. Rubin is co-founder of NDS’s Israeli operations, formerly known as News Datacom Research.

* Michelle R. Canale, Dale E. Hawley Jr. and Sonia Patel have been named associates in the Irvine office of the law firm of Kring & Brown. Canale continues her practice representing developers, general contractors, subcontractors and government entities in construction-related disputes. Hawley’s background is in business, employment and political law. Patel is an associate in the corporate and business litigation department.
