Medical examiners found no sign of trauma on the body of a 37-year-old man who stopped breathing in the back seat of a sheriff’s patrol car and later died, officials said Saturday.

Thomas Bryant of Lancaster was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 43000 block of 36th Street West on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs, said Sgt. George Ducoulombier of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Bryant was in the back seat of the patrol car when deputies noticed he had stopped breathing. Paramedics were called and Bryant was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he later died, Ducoulombier said.
