Davis Feels ‘Great,’ Bruises and All

In the aftermath of his comeback against Delaware State on Wednesday night, Baron Davis was asked to name a favorite moment from the game.

The sophomore point guard, who returned from off-season knee surgery with nine points and four assists, said there were too many good memories to name only one. But the mention of a particular play brought a smile to his face.

Was it his first assist, a pass to Rico Hines in the corner? Or the double-pump layup he scored to give the Bruins a 32-point lead?

No, the play that got the big reaction was a hard foul that sent Davis to the floor midway through the second half. That was when he knew he was back in the thick of the action.

“That felt great,” he said.

Lost in the glare of Davis’ return were career highs for several Bruins.

Forward Travis Reed scored 16 points and Hines had 11, personal bests for both sophomores. Freshman guard Ray Young, in his fifth game as a Bruin, had a career-high nine points.

All of that helped add up to a 109-67 victory, the first this season in which the Bruins have scored more than 100 points.
