Man Killed in Single-Car Accident
A 39-year-old man was killed Friday morning on Angeles Forest Highway, after his car hit a patch of ice, skidded out of control and plunged over an embankment, authorities said.
Tito A. Valdivia of Palmdale was declared dead at the scene, said Scott Carrier, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The accident happened at 6:15 a.m. on a rural stretch of the road, about 12 miles south of Sierra Highway, said Officer Jim Grose of the California Highway Patrol. Valdivia, who was alone and traveling south, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
His Saturn flipped over after hitting a tree, CHP Officer Richard Perez said.
Authorities were not sure how fast Valdivia was driving when he lost control of the car. There were no witnesses to the accident.
