The battle of the shrubs continues tonight when the City Council considers a new ordinance to regulate landscaping along the south shore of Lake Mission Viejo. For more than a year, the city has unsuccessfully tried to force the Lake Mission Viejo Assn. to remove a stretch of oleanders--which the city fears could grow to block views of the lake along Alicia Parkway.
Association members contend that the ordinance is unfair since it affects only them, and have said they will fight the new law if it passes. The law would require city approval of any landscaping more than 18 inches high. It was approved by the Planning Commission last month. The council meets in chambers at 7 p.m., 25909 Pala.
