The City Council on Tuesday will consider ways to fill the seat being vacated by Ken Maddox, who was elected in November to the state Assembly, representing the 68th District. The City Council has the authority to appoint someone to the seat, even though voters approved an advisory measure in 1990 indicating that they would like the appointment to go to the next-highest vote-getter. If city officials decide to uphold the advisory language, longtime City Councilman Robert F. Dinsen, who was defeated in the November election, would be chosen to fill the seat.
