Some Good News for Ayanbadejo

Share

An MRI on the injured left knee of Brendon Ayanbadejo determined that the star linebacker should miss about two weeks of practice because of a sprained ligament, but the injury is not likely to keep him out of the Rose Bowl.

Ayanbadejo suffered the injury last Saturday at Miami, on the first defensive play of the game for UCLA.

“It hurt and I didn’t have full motion,” he said. “That was the first time in my life where there was something I couldn’t do.”

Eric Whitfield, the reserve defensive back suspended last week for being involved in an off-campus fight, has been reinstated. Coach Bob Toledo was out of town and not available for comment, but a UCLA statement said Whitfield will play against Wisconsin on Jan. 1 “if he fulfills certain obligations.” . . . Toledo and offensive line coach Mark Weber sustained minor injuries Monday during a car accident in Atlanta, where they had gone for a recruiting visit.
