Galley Is Doing a Lot of Sitting

At least he found out Saturday morning, which made it a little easier to deal with not playing Saturday night.

Garry Galley’s not playing wasn’t a total surprise, but that didn’t change his disappointment.

“You knew when Rob Blake came back that we had eight defensemen, and you can’t play eight defensemen,” said Galley, a healthy scratch for the Kings’ game against Vancouver. “Mark Visheau moving to wing gives us seven defensemen, but you don’t play seven.”

You play six, and Galley sits and waits for the next time Coach Larry Robinson gives him a call. That was Galley’s lot at the beginning of the season, before the King injuries mounted. It’s his lot now that the injuries have healed.

“You want to be in the game. If you’re not in the game, it’s hard to keep your confidence,” Galley, 35, said. “Maybe older players can handle it, but it’s not easy.”
