It’s a blender. It’s a phone. It’s a blenderphone.

Seriously.

The, um, unique appliance has a blender motor for a ringer and pulses like a telephone bell, except angrier. To answer, you pick up the pitcher from the base and put it to your ear. The caller can hear the motor spinning down just after you pick up. To hang up, replace the pitcher in the base.

But won’t you spill your blended drink when you answer the phone?

“That has always been a problem and it always will be,” explains blenderphone creator Tom Myers.

The first blenderphone was created as a wedding present. “I wanted a strange gift for two friends who performed together in a late-night cabaret. The bride-to-be played a 1950s housewife. The blenderphone seemed like the right thing,” Myers explains.
