Larry Troxel; Composer of Educational Music

Larry Troxel, 44, Newport Beach composer and publisher of educational music. Troxel was the co-founder with his wife, Kathy, of Audio Memory, a 14-year-old company founded on the belief that music can make learning anything easier. Troxel wrote the scores and his wife the lyrics for songs that teach the fundamentals of math, grammar, vocabulary and geography, such as in “The Verb Song” (I’m running, jumping, singing--that’s because I am a verb . . .). Troxel, the son of jazz musician Jim Troxel, also was a youth pastor and taught percussion at Biola University and Southern California College. He is survived by his wife; sons Brian and Noy; mother, Ester Troxel; and sisters Scheri Dubon, Linda Troxel and Leslie Stevens. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Douglas Mortuary, 500 E. Imperial Ave., El Segundo. On Sunday of a heart attack.
