Changes

* Cellist Janos Starker will replace violinist Nigel Kennedy with the Pacific Symphony in concerts March 3 and 4 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa. Kennedy asked to be released from a number of American concerts to play a world premiere by Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina with the Vienna Philharmonic, according to orchestra officials. His appearance with the Pacific will be rescheduled, the officials said. Starker will play Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor. The rest of the program--Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony and Richard Danielpour’s Concerto for Orchestra--will stay the same. Carl St.Clair will conduct. In other orchestra scheduling news, Diane Schuur and Paul Anka will switch performance dates in 1999 to accommodate a television broadcast by Anka. Schuur will sing March 5 and 6 at the center. Anka will perform April 16 and 18. Information: (714) 755-5799.
