IRVINE
The county recently opened its first Stop and Swap, a program that gives partially used home, yard and vehicle maintenance products such as paint, pesticides, pool chemicals and car wax to the public and nonprofit organizations.
Part of the Irvine Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 6411 Oak Canyon, the Stop and Swap is a partnership between the city and the county. It is designed to reduce hazardous waste disposal costs by letting residents take home reusable products that would otherwise require costly treatment and disposal.
Stop and Swap will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The county plans to open another Stop and Swap on Jan. 14 in Anaheim at 1071 N. Blue Gum St. Information: (714) 834-6752.
