Crash on Freeway Leaves One Critical
A fiery crash between two cars on the San Diego Freeway on Monday night resulted in critical injuries to one of the drivers.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. when a car stalled in a northbound lane just south of Jeffrey Road in Irvine and was rear-ended, setting both on fire.
The crash injured the driver of the second car, said Mark Reeves, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the stalled car was out of his vehicle when it was hit, Reeves said.
The accident closed down several lanes of the freeway.
As of late Monday, neither driver was identified by officials.
