Every campus in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District could qualify for money approved for school modernization and construction as a result of the $9-billion state bond passed by voters last month. Under previous rules, the district was excluded from qualifying for funds because it had closed campuses, sold properties and used proceeds for improvements.

But with the recent passage of a Senate bill, every school in the district may qualify for the state money, officials said. The findings of a facility study now underway will be included in the district’s state money applications.
