For the 12th year in a row, Dallas Drive has won the city’s Holiday Home Decorating Contest for the best-decorated street. The contest, sponsored by the Cultural and Beautification Committee, recognizes homeowners in eight categories of decorations, presenting them with a framed photograph and honoring them at a City Council meeting. Dallas Drive has won every year since the contest began.

“They probably have 15 houses on the street, and every single one of them does an outstanding job,” said Mike Belknap of the city’s recreation department, who helps coordinate the contest. “They talk to people when they move in and convince them to do it too.”

Among the other winners are Larry and Lana Bandy of Douglas Circle, best homemade decorations; Jim Connell of Warwick Circle, best use of lights; the Britton family of Sharon Drive, best daytime decorations; Peter Benze of Birchwood Drive, best nighttime decorations; the Caverly family of Puerto Rico Drive, best animated decorations; and the MacDonald family of Malaga Drive, best purchased decorations.
