Victim of Freeway Crash Identified
A driver who was killed Thursday on the Orange Freeway in Brea was identified Friday as Jose Diaz of Long Beach.
The accident occurred Christmas Eve at 6:20 p.m., and authorities were investigating the incident Friday evening, the dispatcher said. No one else was injured.
According to initial reports, the victim was northbound when he made an unsafe lane change and struck a vehicle traveling in the same direction. Diaz lost control of his car and hit a wall.
A California Highway Patrol dispatcher, who declined to be identified, said investigators are looking into the possibility that Diaz was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
