Space for Sale on Cancer Awareness Quilt

* Simi Valley Hospital is selling 8-inch spaces on its Relay for Life Cancer Awareness Quiltto raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Participants are invited to pay tribute to loved ones who have survived or died of cancer. Concert Will Benefit Needy Families

* Native American flute soloist Elk Whistle will be among the performers in the benefit Circle of Life concert at 4 p.m. today at College United Methodist Church, 16 Baylor Drive, Ventura. The program, hosted by the Tri-Counties Native American Gathering , will include dance performances and craft displays. Proceeds will help provide support to families in need. $5. Bingo for Big Brothers and Big Sisters

* Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ventura County will host fund-raising bingo contests from noon to 6 p.m. today at 3503 Arundell Circle, Ventura. Master Chorale to Host Holiday Gala

* The Ventura Master Chorale will host a New Year’s Eve gala at the Residence Inn by Marriott at River Ridge, 2101 W. Vineyard Ave., Oxnard. The party will begin with cocktails and a silent auction at 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 8:30 p.m., a cabaret show at 10 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight. Benefit Concert to Help Area Libraries

* Folk-acoustic musician Bill Hearne will present a benefit concert at 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Heart Association Sponsors Run and Walk

* The American Heart Assn. will sponsor the Ojai Valley Heart and Sole run and walk Feb. 13 beginning at Sarzotti Park, 510 Park Road, Ojai. Check-in will begin at 7 a.m., with the 5K walk and the run starting at 8 a.m., a 10K walk and run at 8:45 a.m. and a 1-mile family fun run at 8:55 a.m. $20 general, $8 children 18 and younger for the 5K and 10K; $6 for the fun run. Participants Sought for Arts, Crafts Festival

* The Conejo Recreation and Park District is registering vendors for its 12th annual Spring Art and Craft Festival on March 13 and 14 at the Borchard Community Center in Newbury Park.
