Dan Lungren
Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren displayed poor judgment in speaking before an all-men’s club in San Marino, despite all the insensitive justification of his spokesman, Robert Stutzman (“An Uneasy Time at the Club,” Jan. 24).
San Marino has enough CEOs and presidents of influential companies to change the course of history. I find it very upsetting that these club members, according to the Jan. 23 article, “never viewed their men-only stance as hostile to women.” They didn’t even have the decency to respond to a woman’s application for membership. Is it any wonder that equality takes place at a snail’s pace?

* Re “As Feinstein Steps Aside, No Clear Favorite Emerges,” Jan. 22: I hope I will not be considered aberrant, but despite a pontiff on patrol and peccadilloes in the White House, the news of the day for me was Sen. Dianne Feinstein deciding not to run for governor.
I would suggest that The Times wait till after the elections to state that Lungren is “on the wrong side of California voters on issues such as guns.” In addition, it is a point of fact that Lungren has tried to enforce the Roberti-Roos legislation, but we are still a society of laws and the aforementioned bills are still being challenged in the courts, like Prop. 187.
