Jarrin Also Gets Top Award From Area Broadcasters
On the day he was notified he had been voted into baseball’s Hall of Fame, Jaime Jarrin also received another honor. He was given the 1997 President’s Award at the seventh annual Southern California Sports Broadcasters awards luncheon at Lakeside Country Club.
Others honored at the event included new SCSB Hall of Fame members Dick Enberg, Gil Stratton and the late Don Drysdale; the Good Guy award to Vic Kelley; High Five award to Barbara Sportell; the top radio and TV play-by-play awards to Vin Scully; top radio color commentator award to Stu Lantz; top radio talk show host to Irv Kaze; top TV color analyst to Sparky Anderson; top radio anchor staff to KNX’s Fred Gallagher, Steve Grad, Rory Markas, Stratton and Charleye Wright; top TV anchor staff to KTLA’s Stu Nahan and Ed Arnold, and the Lifetime Achievement award to non-broadcaster Jim Murray of The Times.
