A Scent That Sticks

Call it Gummi Baer juice. Just don’t drink it--spray it. On your neck, cheeks, behind the ears, and, well, just grin and bear it.

As sweet-smelling as the best-selling Gummi Baer candy, now comes the confection’s namesake in unisex fragrances for grown-ups and kids.

Packaged in papa- ($30) and baby-sized ($20) bear-shaped spray bottles, there’s blue Gummi Baer fragrance made of green apple, lily of the valley, orange blossom, moss, geranium and cedar wood. There’s Green Gummi Baer made of green tea, tangerine, pineapple, apple, oak moss cedar and cyclamen.

There’s a pink bear (floral and powdery), a yellow one (plums and jasmine) and a gray (cedar and musk).

Kids can pick from frosted blue (berry), red (cherry) or yellow (citrus) baby bears. And for Valentine’s Day comes a red bear, its contents spicy with a hint of cinnamon.

“The college kids and collectors are buying them like crazy,” says Topper Schroeder, president of Gendarme Fragrance and the U.S. and Canadian distributor for the Gummi Baer scents.

Schroeder says women are going for pink and yellow fragrances and men for the blue and yellow.

“The kids love them all,” he says.

Coming for summer are peach and lime sherbet scents and at Christmas, chocolate. All are available at Nordstrom and Robinsons-May.
