Restaurant Ratings

Re “Loophole Hampers Restaurant Crackdown,” Feb. 4:

If A is the best rating for cleanliness and food safety, why should patrons and the health department be satisfied with anything less? If a restaurant does not qualify for the A rating, I say close it down until it does. This solves the problem with restaurants that won’t post their B or C ratings.

Supervisors and council members are again taking advantage of an industry under siege to advance their political agenda. It is clear that the county heath department is going into an area where it has not thought out its approach!

Why should restaurant X post its rating when restaurant Y across the street and restaurant Z down the street have not been rated yet? Finish rating all establishments and then announce a date when all ratings must be posted.

How could 20 more inspectors be trained so quickly (45 days) and 44 more inspectors very soon? Sounds like insufficient training for such an important task.
